KKN Day 1

15 Jan 2010
Today is the first day of KKN! Yesterday, gw dianterin bokap nyokap along with my uncle sampe Jatinangor. It has been 3 years since my parents last visited me. So I was actually thrilled! I was told to gather at 6 am in campus tapi gw sama sekali belum tau kelompok KKN gw. So then I called the ketua kelompok known as KorDes (Koordinator Desa). And so I met the rest of the people in the group on the bus. There were Nurul, Achmad, Hilman, Achi, Winny, Nila, Dini, Hilman, Rizal, Fian, Ristanti, Nita and Veby. Subang is located just right above Bandung. The village that we're staying at is called Mekarjaya and is 20km away from the northern beach. We first arrived at the balai desa of Mekarjaya in which the kepala desa tells us the place where we're gonna stay. Kepala desanya blg klo rumahnya gabungan 3 rmh. But when we got there we were too shocked to even speak. The house was totally deserted, the windows were dusty and there were barely any lightings. Worst of all was the bathroom and kitchen happened to be in the same room and it was super dark. The bathroom had no door and the toilet was in such a strange shape that I have never seen before. It was tall like a stool, but made of cement. it looked like a toilet and a sink combined in one, but I'm definitely sure that it was a toilet! So there I was, standing with eyes bulging out and imagining myself having to stay there for a whole month.
But luckily we found a much decent house. This house was practically a Vegas in the village. It has a room with 2 single beds, a mini market right next-door, a washing machine, and the bathroom was normal. The house is similar to those in Jakarta and the lady allowed us to stay there and so we did. Thank God!
And later on that night, Nanda and Yara showed up. They haven't seen the super spooky house yet. But we'll get to that part later...

Happy New Year 2010!

01 - 01 - 10

2009 has been an exciting year for me. In the early '09, I got a chance to revisit my old 'hometown' Washington D.C. and Boston, NYC and Philly. The whole US thing was the highlight of the year! I really can wait what 2010 has in store for me! The first day of  2010 has started well. I realized I have finally heard a response from one of the well-known music production company in the country into inviting Ne-Yo to have a concert in Jakarta. I made a twitter account to collect followers and also an FB group. It will take a while to gather all the fans out there, but I am SURE I can do it! So one of this year's resolution is to actualize a Ne-Yo concert in Jakarta, Indonesia. Yeah!
New Year's Resolution:
  1. Actualize a Ne-Yo concert
  2. Collect more than 20 Google Logos
  3. Visit Europe
  4. Write more, read more, do more!
  5. Give up delaying, postponing, and procrastinating!
  6. More exercise!

Paix

Poussière et fumée,
couvrent la cité
Enfants,
devenus orphelins

Guerre et terrorisme hier!
Paix et amour aujourd'hui!

Quote of the Day

A smile is worth a thousand words...

Mom's Dedication

I'm a fan of books therefore I collect books. But I'm definitely not qualified as a book collector YET. Back when I was 4, I always dreamt of having an enormous library with great selections of books in my own home. All this was inspired by Disney's Beauty and the Beast. "It's funny, dear.Your father and I would take you to Toys 'R Us but you always end up being in the book section rather than the toys section itself. You didn't even know how to read, so you only flipped pages to look at the illustrations.", said my Mom. My family was not much of readers, but they always have this urge to buy more books. My dad collects law books but only reads them once in a while. Though he does read the newspaper daily. My mom collects cook books, arts and handicrafts book and such, but barely reads them at all. She says "You might need it one day." And as for my brother, he doesn't like reading so I won't discuss that any further.

As I graduated from high school, my house got renovated and my mom created a room as I'd first called an I-dont-know-what-to-call-this room. "Look, I turned this room into a library. Just like you wanted!", she said happily. I was like whoa. Astonishingly this room does not look close to any library in any particular. She provided two huge glass shelves with all my books stacked ready to be read. But on one side, the tv was there along with the stereo and another huge glass shelves full of cds, dvds, and vhs tapes. Library, huh? It looks more like a family room with an addition of shelves filled with books. The room looked small and packed. And I thought a library was a place where there should be no talking or worst, no sound?
I also had difficulties sorting the books into each categories. There were the fiction and non-fiction and there's still more to what's under those two. More books were also bought but up until this day I haven't got a chance to read them. All because I was 2-hours away and seldomly visit my home.

I did and I still do appreciate my mom's effort in making my dreams come true. Library in my own home.
Thanks, I Love You Mom.
